It was 2022—near the end of the pandemic—and I was three years deep into yet another unhealthy relationship. I was in the deepest depression of my life, stuck in a job I didn’t like, and waking up every day feeling lost, stuck, and miserable AF.
Then one day, after yet another argument with my boyfriend, something in my brain went “hold on… this feels way too familiar” (and not in a good way).
It hit me—I’d been in this pattern before. The lying, the gaslighting, the constantly questioning myself and trying to earn love… it reminded me of my childhood. I realized I was dating men who were just like my dad. And that was a huge wake-up call.
That was the moment I knew something had to change. For the first time, I truly saw that it wasn’t about me. It was never about my worth. I had just been conditioned to question myself, and I had finally had enough.
Leaving that relationship was the turning point, but the real work started after. I began unraveling everything I’d been carrying for years: the patterns I kept repeating, the beliefs that kept me stuck, and the old stories I’d picked up as a kid about who I had to be in order to be loved.
But in truth, my healing had already started years earlier, during my time as an exotic dancer. That chapter cracked something open in me.
It pushed me to face the shame I’d been silently holding for years and gave me a whole new relationship with myself.
I started to see myself through a different lens—one of power, confidence, and self-trust. I began reclaiming my body, my voice, my presence. For the first time, I felt like I was allowed to take up space, to be fully seen, and to stop shrinking or apologizing for who I was, and deep down, I knew this wasn’t just about me.
This was something I had to share with other women.
As I did the inner work, everything started to change, and I knew I wanted to help other women do the same—to untangle themselves from old stories and finally feel free. Free from shame. Free from needing approval. Free to live life on their terms, however that may look for them.
